This Week's Drought Summary

During the forecasting week from 20-26 July 2020, drought condition of the LMB remain unchanged. Most of the Lower Mekong Basin areas are forecasted to be at normal condition except the 3S and the bordering area between Thailand and Lao PDR (Nong Khai and Vientiane) which are likely to be at moderate, severe, and even extreme drought conditions. Soil moisture at 3S area is at moderate dry, while in the Nong Khai-Vientiane area rainfall amount is considerably low.
Accumulated rainfall in July is forecasted to be less than long-term average especially in the Northern and Eastern parts of the LMB. Whereas soil moisture at 3S and Nong Khai-Vientiane bordering areas are relatively dry during July 2020.
