The Mekong River Commission (MRC) Drought Forecasting and Early Warning System (DFEWS) is the preliminary version published the 14th of April of 2018 design for the Lower Mekong Basin (LMB) in regard of the drought monitoring and forecasting. The MRC Secretariat is not entitled to provide or issue any early warning in regard to drought disaster but to provide early information on drought conditions and trends to the MRC Member Countries (MCs) and the publics.
It is envisaged that the MRC DFEWS will be:
1. Able to monitor and forecast all types of drought (i.e. meteorological, agricultural, and hydrological).
2. Based on the best available science and data.
3. Practically useful for MRC Member Countries and their Line Agencies.
